Here are six basic rules for using and living with MLO. Respect them and enjoy your trip.
The system receives power from an overhead cable located at a height of 5.5 m, which you must not touch. The posts supporting this cable are not dangerous.
Tracks are not for walking along or using as a cycle path.
Only cross the tracks at designated crossing places, giving Light Rail priority.
While standing on Light Rail vehicles, grasp the handholds as on any other mode of transport.
Look both ways before crossing. Take into account that, on some streets, Light Rail can approach from either direction.
Do not obstruct the tracks or their vicinity when crossing them or parking.
Madrid Metropolitan Railway Passenger Regulations (Decree 49/1987 of 8 May, of the Autonomous Community of Madrid) are applicable to Metro Ligero Oeste by virtue of Decree 57/2006 of 29 June dnd modified by Decree 56/2017, of May 24, of the Governing Council of the Community of Madrid
DOWNLOAD PDFWe must all obey a few basic rules in order to correctly use Light Rail and Public Transport in general. By complying with these very simple rules, you are helping us to provide a better light rail service and ensuring passengers travel together safely.
Light Rail vehicles travel along a separate but not exclusive tramway: in some sections, they share the track with both public and private transport as well as with pedestrians.
Pedestrians and vehicles (car, bike, motorcycle, etc.) are strictly prohibited from using Light Rail tracks.
There are three types of signals at designated pedestrian crossings:
Pedestrian crossing button. Wherever a pedestrian crossing button is installed at a pedestrian crossing, it must be pressed and the pedestrian must wait for the green light before crossing. (Nevertheless, before crossing, they should also look from left to right, as one vehicle might be hidden from view by another).
Red luminous stop sign. This sign is not usually lit and only starts to flash when a Light Rail vehicle is approaching. It remains lit when crossing is prohibited.
Approaching Light Rail warning signal and the need to look both ways before crossing.
Respect traffic signals:
We monitor and manage all MLO operations from a Central Control Post sin our Ciudad de la Imagen Depot (Pozuelo de Alarcón), where we have a perfect view of everything that happens everywhere in the network.
Light rail vehicles run at a moderate speed: maximum 50 km/h in urban zones, 40 km/h on shared tramways (crossings) and 20 km/h in pedestrian zones.
Light Rail always has right of way (even at roundabouts), ); do not drive on the tramway and do not obstruct the tracks or their vicinity when parking.
